Preparing For Your First Cruise
Your first cruise is always a very important event of your life. This is equally important for people who have joined the navy as a professional or tourists on a pleasure trip. Proper preparation is very important for your first cruise so you may not miss out on anything important. There are so many things to consider and so many questions to answer that at the beginning you might get intimidated by the sheer volume of preparation you have to do even for the shortest of cruises. It is very important that you do not give in to a worry or confusion. Follow the below tips as they will help you a lot in your first cruise.

After you have booked your place on the cruise, the next most important thing to do is arrange a mode of transport from your current location to the port from where the ship leaves on cruise. If you are in a hotel, all you have to do is ask the hotel people if they have a shuttle service to and from the hotel to port. If they have one, so much the better, if they do not, ask them to arrange something for you. If you think that hotel people will overcharge you, you can resort to the trusty old internet to book a local cab for journey from you place to the port of departure. If you plan to drive to the port, you can check out cruise parking options available near the port.

Packing your trunks is obviously the most important consideration. You must find out what things you need to pack for the voyage and what not. The simple answer here is that what you have to pack depends upon what kind of cruise you are taking. Most of the amenities are available on the ship. It is primarily the clothing you have to consider. So, if your cruise is about warm regions like the Caribbean, you should take summer clothes. If your cruise ship will be in colder areas, say an Alaskan or an Icelandic cruise, you will need warm, winter clothes. Typically, a cruise lasts for one or two weeks. The key here is that you pack as light as possible. After all, a cruise ship is like a floating city, you can get nearly everything on it.

Whatever you do, it is best if you pack at least one set of formal clothes- dinner jacket and all paraphernalia for men and evening gowns for women. This will be really useful in the case of formal events like Captain's Dinner and other such high profile events organized aboard the ship.
